چکیده

Abstract. A new atmospheric ozone profile climatology has been constructed by combining daytime profiles from the Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) and Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research Applications version 2 (MERRA-2) Global Modeling Initiative (GMI) model simulation (M2GMI). The MLS M2GMI are merged between 13 17 km (?159 88 hPa), with used stratospheric GMI primarily tropospheric levels. time record is August 2004–December 2016. derived seasonal consists of monthly zonal-mean in 5? latitude bands 90? S to N covering altitudes (in Z* log-pressure altitude) zero 80 1 increments. This can be as a priori information satellite retrievals, radiative transfer studies, baseline compare other measured or model-simulated ozone. MLS/GMI shows number improvements compared previous climatologies based on ozonesonde measurements. These attributed mostly continuous daily global coverage sparse regional measurements sondes. In addition climatology, we also derive an additive account interannual variability which rotated empirical orthogonal function (REOF) analysis profiles. REOF starts 1970 captures most including quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) signatures.

Satellite Inferred Global Climatology

Clouds are essential for life to exist on earth due to their influential climatological impact. Clouds help control the radiation balance of the earth by reflecting incoming solar radiation, a cooling process; however, clouds also act as absorbers of terrestrial infrared radiation, a warming process. This dual role is a primary motive to examine the effects clouds have on the global climate. Qu...

Neural Network Algorithms for Tropospheric Ozone Retrieval from Esa-envisat Sciamachy and Nasa-aura Omi Satellite Data

The ozone in troposphere is a direct greenhouse gas [1] and its importance, both from a radiative point of view and concerning its interaction with the biosphere, is outlined in several scientific papers. Monitoring its trends, especially in highly polluted locations, is a relevant topic in recent geo-sciences research. Obtaining information about ozone in the lower atmospheric levels from spac...

A novel tropopause-related climatology of ozone profiles

A new ozone climatology, based on ozonesonde and satellite measurements, spanning the altitude region between the earth’s surface and ∼60 km is presented (TpO3 climatology). This climatology is novel in that the ozone profiles are categorized according to calendar month, latitude and local tropopause heights. Compared to the standard latitude–month categorization, this presentation improves the...

A global tropospheric ozone climatology from trajectory-mapped ozone soundings

A global three-dimensional (i.e. latitude, longitude, altitude) climatology of tropospheric ozone is derived from the ozone sounding record by trajectory mapping. Approximately 52 000 ozonesonde profiles from more than 100 stations worldwide since 1965 are used. The small number of stations results in a sparse geographical distribution. Here, forward and backward trajectory calculations are per...
